The Finance module includes two widgets you can pin to your personal home dashboard: MTD revenue and Monthly goal progress. Diego at Bayou & Co. has both on his dashboard — when he opens SPLX OS in the morning, the first thing he sees is where the business stands without navigating to the Finance section at all.
Before you start
- The Finance module must be enabled for your workspace. If the Finance section doesn't appear in the sidebar, ask a workspace admin to enable it at Settings → Modules.
- Widgets are configured per-user — each team member controls which widgets appear on their own home dashboard. There is no workspace-wide default layout.
- The Finance module gate applies to the widgets too. If Finance becomes unavailable for your tenant, the Finance widgets on your dashboard will show an error state rather than data.
The two Finance widgets
MTD revenue
Shows month-to-date recognized revenue — the sum of all revenue entries with status
recognized whose date falls within the current calendar month.
Below the total, the widget shows a comparison to the prior month: the total recognized revenue for the same number of days in the previous month, with a delta amount and direction indicator.
If no revenue entries exist for the current month yet, the widget shows $0 with no
comparison.
Monthly goal progress
Shows the attainment percentage for the current month's revenue goal. If a monthly goal
exists for the current period (in YYYY-MM format), the widget displays:
- Goal period and target amount
- A progress bar showing
actual ÷ target × 100 % - The actual amount (computed from recognized revenue, or the manual override if one is set)
If no monthly goal exists for the current period, the widget shows a prompt to set one
with a link to /finance/goals.
Step 1: Open the dashboard widget picker
Navigate to your home dashboard (click the SPLX OS logo or your workspace name in the top-left to return to the home page). If no widgets have been added yet, you'll see an empty state. Click Customize (or the grid/settings icon) to open the widget picker.
If you already have widgets on your dashboard, look for the Add widget or + button to open the picker.
Step 2: Find the Finance widgets
The widget picker lists all available widgets grouped by module. Look for the Finance section. You'll see:
| Widget | Default size | Description |
|---|---|---|
| MTD revenue | Small | Month-to-date revenue with prior-month comparison |
| Monthly goal progress | Small | Current month's goal attainment percentage |
Step 3: Add the widgets
Click Add next to each widget you want. The widget appears on your dashboard immediately. Both Finance widgets default to the small tile size, which fits naturally alongside other small tiles.
Your dashboard layout is saved automatically — you do not need to click a Save button. The layout persists across sessions and devices.
Step 4: Read the widgets in context
Both Finance widgets pull live data. On a busy day, Diego's morning routine at Bayou & Co. looks like this:
- He glances at MTD revenue — $31,400 with a
+$4,200 vs last monthdelta means they're running 16 % ahead of pace. - He checks Monthly goal progress — 62 % attained on a $50,000 May target with 9 business days left. He flags this to Mei Lin, their business development lead, to close two pending proposals.
The same information is available in more detail on the Finance dashboard
(/finance/dashboard) and the Reports page (/finance/reports → Goal attainment),
but the widgets give a quick pulse check without leaving the home view.
Rearranging and removing widgets
On the home dashboard, drag widget tiles to rearrange them. To remove a Finance widget, click the × or Remove control on the widget tile. Your layout updates and saves automatically.
Tips
- Both widgets are small by default. If you want more detail at a glance, check whether your dashboard layout allows resizing — the size setting is part of the widget configuration.
- The MTD revenue widget uses calendar months, not fiscal months. If your business uses a non-January fiscal year start, the widget still shows the current calendar month (e.g. May 1–May 31), not your fiscal month.
- Monthly goal progress shows a prompt if no goal is set. If you see "No goal for
this period — create one," navigate to
/finance/goalsand set a monthly goal for the currentYYYY-MMperiod. The widget will start showing attainment on the next page load.
